What were they Thinking...

Breaking News!!!!!

The Israeli Military Industry (IMI) has signed a large deal with the Palestinian Authority to manufacture ground to ground rockets for short, medium and long range targets. The rockets will be designed to be portable so a single "Freedom Fighter" will be able to carry, aim and fire the rocket while going undetected. Although no financial details were provided, sources in the IMI estimate the deal to be worth in excess of $50M for a 2 year contract. As part of the contract the IMI will provide training and manufacturing know how to the Palestinians so they can further develop their own industry.

The above paragraph is sarcastic and completely fictional (for now). But seeing Israeli reality reach new levels of incompetency is driving me and many around me nuts!!!!.

After only a couple of days of curfew on the Gaza strip the Israeli government today decided to allow oil and power back into the strip for humanatarian reasons. This while the other side is laughing their heads off at the fact that the power and fuel to drive their rocket industry is being provided by those who they launch the rockets at.

For the past 7 Years, Hammas and its fellow terrorist organizations have been targeting Israeli civilians with rockets that have been launched in the southwestern part of Israel from the Gaza strip. Although Gaza today is completely free of occupation and there supposedly is an independent democratically elected government in the Palestinian Authority, the terrorist organizations are free to roam and do as they please.

It doesn't matter on which side of the fence you are, or what your political views are. Common sense and Darwinism must come into action. When someone asks you to provide them with a gun so they can kill you.....my bet...you won't give it to them...even if are in some agreement with their cause.

Lately it had seemed like things were going back to normal. The Israeli government started enforcing a complete curfew on the Gaza strip, banning entry or exit to both people and merchandise. This made sense. If you bite the hand that feeds you, chances are you are going to go hungry.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Canadian missiles were being launched at Buffalo, NY. Toronto would be flattened. Even if Paris was under fire from England or Spain even the French would not turn the other cheek. Patriotism and nationalism still have a place in modern day politics and international relations.

Israel is suffering from a very deep recession in pride. You may think that Israelis are depressed or have just lost their way in the dark reality that is the middle east. The Israeli leadership has lost all context of their responsibility to provide security to the public. A price has been put on everything, especially international opinion.

I would like to invite any proponents of Israeli non-retaliation policy to visit the pastoral small town of Sderot for a week. If one comes back (if they survive) and sticks to their opinions I will take everything I said back. The residents of this town have been living under a constant threat to their live for the past 6-7 years with rockets exploding in their houses and in their schools.

BTW, Sderot, for anyone who is wondering is non disputable Israeli territory that there is no other claim on (except for those who would like to see all Jews drown in the sea of Gaza (famous words of the Late Yasser Arrafat).

I find myself contemplating what needs to be done to resolve this situation and although I am considered to be very liberal and all for a two state solution with the removal of at least some of the settlements in the occupied territories, I can not fathom how the Israeli government is able to sit back and do close to nothing to protect and serve the people of Sderot.

Major action is needed, but in a country where no cause is holy enough to get people on the streets to shout and cry out to the government to put a stop to this nonsense (Even I am sitting in my plush comfortable office writing this blog) it seems unlikely that the change will be demanded by the public.
